Pinwheels for Prevention®
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month! Each year, Midland Child Advocacy Center celebrates with Pinwheels for Prevention®, a national campaign introduced by Prevent Child Abuse America. Pinwheels are planted throughout Midland County (and beyond!) to raise community awareness and serve as a reminder for the role we all play in children’s lives.
Visit our Events page for upcoming Child Abuse Prevention Month activities, including our yearly Pinwheel Ceremony where we honor the Child Advocate of the Year and Founder’s Award recipients. Community members are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals and groups through our online submission form available each January.
Why pinwheels?
Since 2008, the blue pinwheel has served as the national symbol for Child Abuse Prevention Month. Pinwheels represent childlike whimsy and lightheartedness; a vision for a world where all children grow up happy, healthy, and prepared to succeed in supportive families and communities.
