Facility Dog

Basil began her training with Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Hills, MI. During her training, it was determined that she would be best suited in a different career, which led her to the Canine Advocates Program. Dogs from Canine Advocates are intelligent, sweet, loving, and bring an overall sense of comfort to others.

Basil became a member of Midland CAC staff in February 2026. Her first few months were spent finishing up her training, familiarizing herself with her pawffice, and getting to know her new co-workers. June 2026 was full of milestones for Basil; she passed her Canine Good Citizen test through the AKC, and her evaluation with Canine Advocates to officially begin working with children and families! Her work responsibilities include greeting visitors when they arrive to the Center, and providing gentle comfort during appointments.
