April is Child Abuse Prevention Month!
April is Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month! Each year, Midland Child Advocacy Center celebrates with Pinwheels for Prevention®, a national campaign introduced by Prevent Child Abuse America. Pinwheels are planted throughout Midland County (and beyond!) to raise community awareness and serve as a reminder for the role we all play in children’s lives.
Why pinwheels?
Since 2008, the blue pinwheel has served as the national symbol for Child Abuse Prevention Month. Pinwheels represent childlike whimsy and lightheartedness; a vision for a world where all children grow up happy, healthy, and prepared to succeed in supportive families and communities.
Get your pinwheels!
Midland CAC has a limited number of pinwheels available on a first come, first serve basis for organizations and individuals located in Midland County, MI.
Pinwheel order form closes March 16th 2026 or until all pinwheels are secured!
Pinwheel Ceremony + Champion for Children
The Annual Pinwheel Ceremony will take place on Friday, April 10th from 12:30-1:00pm at the Midland County Courthouse (301 W. Main St.). This event recognizes the nominees and the winner of the Champion for Children award. The Champion for Children award is dedicated to someone in the community who works tirelessly throughout the year to support and protect Midland County children.
The awardee and nominees will lead the group in the “planting” of a community pinwheel garden in front of the courthouse. All are welcome to attend, and we encourage you to wear BLUE!
Nominations accepted through February 16th 2026.
